Apple just took another hit in the battle against its biggest rival, Google. According to the “State of Mobile Device Performance and Health” report issued by Blancco Technology Group for the third quarter (Q3) of the year, iPhones and iPads are failing at a rate of 62 percent worldwide. In comparison, the failure rate of Android devices stands at 47 percent.
Out of all iOS devices, the iPhone 6 has experienced the highest failure rate (13 percent), followed by the iPhone 6s (9 percent) and the 5s (9 percent).
The report also states that apps crash three times as often on iOS devices compared to Android. According to the report, apps crashed on 65 percent of the surveyed iPhones and iPads, which is significantly worse than the 25 percent of Android devices reported to have crashed.
Over on the Android side, the affordable LeEco Le 2 tops the list of devices with the highest failure rate (13 percent). It’s closely followed by Xiaomi’s Redmi 3S and Redmi Note 3 (9 percent each), while Samsung’s Galaxy S7 Edge occupies 4th place with 5 percent.
When it comes to apps, iOS users experience the most issues when using Instagram (14 percent), Snapchat (12 percent), and Facebook (9 percent). These three apps reportedly crash the most frequently of all on iOS devices, followed by Pokemon Go, Facebook Messenger and Google.
When it comes to Android, the situation is a bit different. The apps that crash the most and cause the most frustration for Android users are IMS Service (32 percent), Address Book (12 percent), and Google Play Services (10 percent). Interestingly, none of the apps that crash the most appear in both platforms’ top ten list.
